Attracts tourists with media art

Huinnyeoul Cultural Village began calling itself Huinnyeoul Village in 2011, taking Huinyeoul from the road name Huinyeoul-gil in the village naming process of residents in the Isongdo region. Huinnyeoul Road was named because the sight of water streams going down to the sea at the foot of Bongraesan mountain resembles pure white snow falling. Huinnyeoul Culture Village has always been famous as a place for photographers to take pictures because of its beautiful natural scenery. The sun shining down, the rolling waves, and the scent of the ocean blowing in made each day precious with the residents of Huinnyeoul Culture Village.
Residents remodeled several abandoned houses for the development of the village, making the atmosphere of the village brighter and friendlier. Thanks to those efforts, it gradually began to receive attention from the outside, and was known as the filming site for the famous Korean movie ‘The Attorney’ starring actors Song Kang-ho, Kwak Do-won, Im Si-wan, etc.,and received full-fledged attention. In addition, Huinyeoul Culture Village was loved by filmmakers such as the noir film 'War on Crime' and the comedy melodrama 'First Love Shooter Rising Competition', and interest in the village.

Huinnyeoul Coastal Tunnel opened in 2018 by drilling a tunnel about 70 meters into the coastal rock wall to allow tourists and the elderly to walk comfortably and safely along the Jeolyeong coastal trail. The Huinnyeoul coastal tunnel, located below the Huinnyeoul Cultural Village course, is a famous tourist attraction with an average of 2,000 visitors per day, and is a popular attraction not only for local residents but also for tourists.

Outside the tunnel, you can enjoy the beautiful sea, and at the entrance of the tunnel, there is an eco-friendly photo zone where you can take the photo of your life. In particular, this photo zone is so popular that there is even a waiting line, and anyone can take picturesque photos. In addition, artificial rock construction and fiber optic flagstone lighting were installed inside the Huinnyeoul coastal tunnel, adding to the attractions.

However, since the Huinnyeoul coastal tunnel is a famous attraction, there was a problem of trash dumping in the tunnel, and Iconic Movement prepared the projection mapping public project Save Ocean to solve this problem. The problem of trash dumping was pointed out using 'Kooang', one of the main characters in Iconic Movement's own IP animation, 'My Friend Goblin Kookoomatoo'. The project was broadcast inside the tunnel using projection mapping and delivered a meaningful message to tourists.

'Kooang', one of the main characters of Iconic Movement's own IP animation, 'My Friends Goblin Kookoomatoo', was used to point out and raise awareness of the trash problem. Iconic Movement was able to provide entertainment and awareness to tourists by showing Kooang, who was living in the sea, getting angry after being hit by trash thrown by tourists and showing his face towards the tourists. The project was broadcast inside the tunnel using projection mapping technology and delivered a meaningful message to tourists.

Kooang is talking about cleaning up trash and protecting the sea.
As Kooang cleans up all the trash in the sea, various marine life such as sea turtles and humpback whales returns to the clean sea, creating a healthy ecosystem.

As a result, the project was exposed to approximately 10,000 tourists who visited the Huinnyeoul coastal tunnel, and communication through social media took place among the tourists, resulting in a positive response. It solved a problem that local residents were concerned about and further revitalized tourism at the Huinnyeoul coastal tunnel. In addition, we were able to leave a positive image to tourists who visited the Huinnyeoul coastal tunnel, actively solving the waste problem and taking the lead in environmental protection. Because projection mapping was used, the coastal tunnel was not damaged at all, and characters were introduced to attract the attention of children. The idea to use the ceiling of the tunnel allowed tourists to enjoy a more enriching view of the inside of the tunnel. In recognition of the public nature and excellence of the project, it was successfully completed and won the '2023 Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency Director's Award'.
Lastly,
The way to make the region that we all share more active.
The way to attract tourists' attention and encourage revisiting.
It’s media art.
Iconic Movement strives to make continuous efforts to revitalize tourist destinations and solve regional problems by providing optimal media art that takes advantage of local problems and characteristics.
