Yedang Lake Observatory Media Art Projection Mapping

This project aimed to provide visual experience through artistic media art and synesthetic landscape lighting by utilizing projection mapping technology that can be used in various spaces. Yedangho Lake is a representative tourist attraction in Yesan City, and uses the local legend "Yonggorang" as a motif to induce a rich sense of immersion and emotion in the existing story line by unraveling the blue and yellow dragon stories of Yedang Lake into a single flow. Focusing on making the most of the spatial characteristics of the observatory, the content is given a three-dimensional and spatial sense by using projection mapping, and it is designed to look real in harmony with the observatory.

DETAILS

The key points of the content are storytelling development using local legends and visuals considering loop-shaped content. By reinterpreting the elements of folktales of local legend "Yonggorang" with modern technology, the dragon ascending to the high sky with its desire is expressed through artistic media art, and the detailed color production of the in-outro is unified in consideration of repeated exposure to minimize the sense of heterogeneity that a single content is repeated.

Projection mapping has the advantage of maximizing the utilization of space and implementing realistic three-dimensional visuals by applying 3D effects to the flat surface. The central technology of this project is to give the observatory a three-dimensional and spatial sense by using projection mapping and anamorphic techniques, making the content feel real beyond the flat visual effect and creating eye-chacking of the audience with texture and color that add detailed details of the core object, dragon tower.
